The Sports Illustrated award. On si.com they have their picks and so far Michael Phelps isn't one of the nominees for this year. I don't see how that can be possible considering he won 8 Gold Medals and is arguably the greatest Olympian (which SI called him I believe) of all time. Considering that last year's winner didn't even win his sport's championship (Brett Favre), I'd say anything is possible. Frankly, I like the idea of naming athletes serving in the military SOTY. Everybody else on that list is a contrived hero for winning events created for entertainment and profit. As the son of a military veteran, I can say that those who serve to protect the freedom of those they do not know are the true heroes.look at yahoo news he was voted si'ssportsman of the year.yahoo also has a video of itI no wot a swimmer
because hes already the greatest sportsman on this earth and it wouldnt be fair he would obiously winmichael phelps gonna be sportsman of the year trust me!u should search for the second first place is taken !Lol he won :D
