Is it because they are accused of stealing votes and inflating dead voter rolls? Then why did McCain attend their meetings in February of 2006 ? probably to distract from the rigged election machines and voter elimination schemes that are going to get mccain selected. and to give them an excuse to declare the election null and void should their dirty tricks not work good enough. It's only prominent to McCainiacsThe point is fraud not party.
Tax payers pay ACORN
Obama gave them the tax payer's money, and he also defended them in a law suit, and he was some kind of trainer for them.
Either way ACORN must go down, tax payers who work for a living get very angry when their taxes are used to discount their vote.
If I worked for ACORN I would be affraid to ask a stranger if he was registered to vote these days.Why???

Here's what else you should know about these charges on ACORN's efforts in about 11 states.
The organization is obligated to turn in every registration card completed, even, as one spokesman put it, if it has the name Daffy Duck on it. The organization says it segregates and flags suspect cards to election authorities. It apparently doesn't catch all of them. But a vast conspiracy? We're doubtful. If a worker taking illegal shortcuts fakes a name on a registration card, that act overburdens election officials, but do we really think that the faked person will vote?
Voter registration fraud, when it occurs, is a serious matter, and it's obvious that even if ACORN is catching many, the number of bad registrations it is turning in points to quality control problems. However, most of the cards submitted, said Milwaukee's top election official, appear to be good.
If the past is prologue, much of this ballyhoo is really about those new voters and who they might vote for.
The Ayers thing wasn't working as well as hoped, so that's the next thing the McCain folks have got to try. What else can they do? Because while ACORN is out drumming up votes, the usual republicans operatives are sleazing into the actual voting processes of key states and setting up their usual corruption.
It's the usual smoke and mirrors where the radical republicans point ver there and distract while they are busy doing something even worse behind the scenes.Believe it or not, it wasn't just McCain that supports ACORN it was 90% of the Rep party.
Rep's need something to attack and hate Obama with.Because the overwhelming majority of newly registered voters are voting for Obama and the Repugnicans know this. They hate it... it raises yet another problem for them. They are already losing in every single poll... an army of new and younger voters is their worst nightmare. Therefore they have created this spectre of voter fraud out of utter desperation AND so that THEY can do what they did in the last 2 elections and get away with it because they were first to make an accusation. THey are stealing the election for the democrats. It will take any and all credit away from Obama if he wins. And when they turned them in as required by law they reported that they believed that some of them were fraudulent and pointed them out. Acorn has done some very good things re: education but this year they are under scrutiny because of tons of fraudulent voters registered. ACORN tries to help people. One of the ways this organization helped people is to get them low interest rate mortgages. However, some of the people that were helped are now defaulting on their mortgages. These people should not have gotten them in the 1st place because they were not qualified for a mortgage. But ACORN complained that banks and mortgage companies were being prejudiced, so unqualified people were given mortgages. Now, they are losing their houses. Talk about giving people a dream then taking it away.
