Smb streaming pc to xb

  • hey guys,
    i have searched but haven't found any answer to my problem.
    my pc host my media files and i hva configured my xb using smb to access a folder.

    the problem is that the movie freeze every 2 or 3 secondes... it is like xbmc read a buffer and then reload it and so on... http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/forums/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif

    when i look at my router, the dataflow is not continued neither...

    is there an option to set somewhere to make it more smooth ?

    ps : i am also looking for the folder where to put the codec in xbmc but haven't searched yet on the forum for that question

  • when streaming them from my regular pc, the videos work fine and never skip. but when streaming them from my server, they skip every few seconds.
    never used to do this.


  • when streaming you should press the info-button on your remote (or on your pad) then you get some infos about streaming cache. if you stream faster your server can serve... try another protokoll or speed up your server


  • i've found that it works for .avi files for me but i cannot stream .mpg without huge frame dropouts and stop/starts.

    do you think this is the variable that is causing your streams to sometimes work?


  • but for me the problem is i can stream avi's fine, but mpeg's crap out within seconds. is the caching different for those two file types? streaming from my server to my wireless notebook works fine though so i'm inclined that it is my xbox as it is on a 100mb/s network.

    which are the values that i have to place in the configurations of cache of the system so that the avi movies by network to pc(smb) run fast and they not freeze ?????

  • i'm having the same problem. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. i havent figured out the variable.

    please help us.

  • i don't know why it's stuttering but one thing you could try would be using an alternative streaming protocol, like xbms. download ccxgui from here http://ccxgui.xboxmediacenter.de/download.html and try using that instead of smb. if it still glitches out you know it's network-related.
