  • Hi!

I play for a local soccer club and have a jersey with my number written in the back with permanent marker.

Is it safe to wash it with a regular load of laundry??

    thanks!!

  • i think its ok. the sharpie will fade a bit over time though. i have never had problems wit it running into other clothes

  • I'd wash it alone the first time, but I think it won't get any marker on anything else. Sharpies are sooo permanent.

  • I have washed clothes that have been written on with sharpies and have never had it ruin the other clothes. Like the other answer said however, it will fade over time.

  • I wouldn't wash it with regular loads. I had a shirt from my graduation in elementary school that had all my friends names written on it in a black sharpie marker. I washed it and noticed a slight tint in one of my other fabrics and it washed away all the names.Unless you have memorized your number and it is a color load, I really wouldn't wash it with regular loads a couple of times. It might have a small chance of the number fading easier, too, although it will probably fade away slowly. Otherwise, knowing how permanent Sharpie markers are, I recommend washing it alone a few times before blending it with other fabrics.
