over the past few days, i have loaded up some new movies onto my xbox. i press the white button wile the file is highlighted to do an imdb lookup and get all the movie info and cover art but it only will hit on an exact match, it used to show partial matches and stuff, but not anymore, and when i do get an exact mach it isn’t able to download the cover picture for the movie. i am thinking that imdb website had a overhaul or modification to their website engine and at the same time screwed up xbmc’s ability to perform searches properly.

:help:once you've done a lookup, start it again (twice a row). you should get the cover then.you could always look at your log file. thats what its there for.
make sure to set it to loglevel 0 first thoughi had the same problem and 1-2 cvs fixed it. however, imdb keeps naming my western movies french names. the good the bad and the ugly and once upon a time out west are both listed by french titles. weird.:angry: :angry: the problem exist always with the last cvs release of xbmc (01/02/05) !!!
i can download the info of a movie by imdb but i i don't see/download the cover art associated !!the people that are able to get movie info from imdb, but not covers, should check their dns settings.
it appears that xbmc defaults to a direct ip lookup, when it's unable to make a dns lookup - and the ip stored in xbmc for ia.imdb.com (where the covers are hosted) is apparently incorrect.
your xbmc.log will state this error, even in standard level 2 mode:
error dns lookup for ia.imdb.com failed: 11001
warning error: problem accessing the dns. defaulting to using hard-coded ip address for known hosts.
error unable to connect to ia.imdb.com: 11001
i was fooled, myself, by xbmc looking up partial data from imdb, making me think that the dns setup was correct.
so make sure that your dns settings are configured correctly! :)just installed the 1/13 build and have the same problem ..
same result if the images are folder.jpg files or images that the cd lookup places into xbmc. .. i did clear the cache and tried both pm 1 and 2 skins.thanks bobbin007, i wasn't sure if it was a problem with my setup. thanks for letting me know. i'll make a new build and try it out. :thumbsup:greets to all. i have been following this forum religiously as i have just set up my xbox with xbmc ( after much frustration with xbmp). all the probs i have had with codecs etc have been pretty much solved by you guys....thanx.

i noticed the same prob starting with the 1/9 build, specifically with the my music section.. havent tried other sections. icon and large icon view work fine, just list view doesnt.is anybody have this problem yes or no
when i call imdb function (white button) on a film. i have always the information about the movie but never the cover.
before i have not this problem.
is-it normal because nobody seem to speak about this !!

i am currently running a cvs build dated 2004-11-30
slicejust tried a build i made from 11th jan and most of mine seem fixed. there was one folder which is being stubborn and wont take the icon though. i'll check to see what the problem might be and report if i find out.

this is a bug which was fixed yesterday. :) thanks for reporting.

bobbin007please make sure you deleted both e:\udata\0face008 and e:\tdata\0face008 and reboot then test again if imdb now works?, + we need movie(s) name@bobbin007: with the latest builds, the little icons that appear when view mode is set to list don't show the album cover (the same happens with programs not showing their icon). can you check it?
this should be fixed already, please try a later version then the 1/9.

bobbin007it's been fixed in cvs after that date, use 09 jan 2005 or lateri just used it. it's not brokeni'm not so sure the problem was fixed...i deleted the whole xbmc dir and the folders under udata & tdata and imdb covers still dont work, actually, they don't even look up. using jan 15 build too...tried to look up collateral and saw

-matti am having the exact same problem as matt11601. i used it earlier today and it worked fine. but tonight i added a new movie and i can't access imdb. keyboard pops up, i enter the movie name, and it searches, then the keyboard pops up again. i went to the imdb website and searched for the movie there, and it came up with no problems.what are the titles?
so we can checkwhere can i find the lastest version of xbmc !! i try to use cvs download in sourceforge web site but there is a problem with anonymous password access which is no more accepted !!

many thanks.can’t find any compiled versions anywhere, newest i can get is the 12-8-04 cvs build. can't find newer even in the the usual places. i guess i’ll have to wait a few days for a new build to be released.

:thumbsup:the cvs link (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/xbmc/xbmc/changelog.txt). you'll need a build of 21/12 or later.slice - the latest compiled version jan02-2005 fixes the missing icons. i had the same problem and thought i had broken my xbmc until i read this thread. its available on the ***** uk area.

wayneis it just me or....

if i drop out of this after point a there is no icon shown against the album name. if i drop out after point b there is an icon.
what's going on? what makes it worse is that it doesn't always do it and i'm having trouble working out what situation there is where it does do it normally. most of the time however it doesn't.
isn't there a way to get it to scan all my music in a big list for this sort of stuff anyway? either on the box or pc?

you are a comic man you !!!!! take me for a burne !!! :nuts: :nuts:maybe a silly question - but the people who have probs with downloading cover art (with current cvs whenever) - have you upgraded your hdd ??
since upgrading my hdd - i have not been able to get cover art to download correctly, maybe its something linked to a particluar group like us - rather than an overall issue (??) affecting the cvs.
i have no idea why this might happen - of even if it does, but as it seems to be a re-ocurring issues influenced by many factors, perhaps we should start some sort of poll/ yes/no it works and the setup - it might get the issues out in the open once and for all ???i had the same prob,so i just installed xbmc.cvs.1.9.05 build.
now i get the album info and cover art,but when i go back the folder has no cover,but the files inside do. i dont get it any more.imdb works fine though.i still have the problems with the 2-01 build also. i deleted tdata and udata after putting in the new build. deleted the previous thumbs to ensure that the problem was with 'a' particular lookup. with earlier builds 18-12, i had no problems. now, it does not lookup for any movie. where can i be going wrong?where can i find the lastest version of xbmc !!

many thanks.you are correct. imdb did overhaul their website. it has been fixed in the cvs i believei've got the new build and the white button (for imdb lookup in video's) does nothing anymore....just tried the new build because i like the imdb lookup so much. i also have a problem with playing video, i cannot stop it when it's playing, the xbox hangs. this happens every time i try to update to a newer version by the way. i always have to put back the 1.1 build. does anybody have the same problems or can someone help me out?
ps. i've deleted every old files and the stuff on e:\.
