How do I limit SQL resources

March 14th, 2010 by wktd
  • Hi all.

Not sure where this belongs. Which file on my LINUX server do I need to change to limit the amount of resources my forum uses? My server has been crashing when my forum becomes over populated. Is there a way I can limit the RAM and CPU power vB (and MySQL) uses to prevent the server becoming overloaded and shutting down?

    Thanks.

    M

  • Can you please explain exactly what it is you mean and what you are trying to do?

  • When 200 or more folk are logged in and posting, the CPU and memory consumption goes through the roof. I have a dual P3 1Gb with 1Gb RAM on Red Hat Enterprise. The higher is gets, the slower is gets, and eventually it siezes the server. All the services shut down and I have to call my provider and ask them to reboot my server.

Is there a way to limit the resources MySQL uses?
