How do i become a better artist in the field of lets say anime/elf/warrior/myownscreatiâ ¦
March 12th, 2010 by roseI know im up tot he challenge.
I have some free time on my hands right now and I wanna get alot of practice. I cant get my drawing right.
Something is always wrong.
Usually its the body.
I wanna be able to think of my own creation and draw it.
What type of books, videos or anything should I look into?
Here are some links to what type of things id like to draw.

try playing different games or watching different types of animes, shows to come up with ideas
i don't draw, but i get my ideas by watching new animes, reading mangas, reading books like The Prince of nothing trilogy, warcraft books
Well, you become an artist by making lots of pictures.
If something remains in your mind, and 100% of the time you don't make the attempt to draw it, it won't be apparent to anybody.
Whereas, sometimes, you try to draw what's in your head, and you get say only 24% of it to look like what you have in your mind, then that's more than 0%. You're on your way, y'know?
And when you draw more and understand more, then you'll get to 40%, then maybe 60%, and so forth. But this comes in time, right?
And, probably, you won't get 100% exactly of what you picture, but, if the image in your head is a good one, 60% of it would be enough to wow anybody.
Y'know, your goal is not an ending point, it's a starting point!
But, you're learning everyday, and I think knowledge is not in the building of it, but in further percieving it.
Uhm... I think this blog would be useful to anyone...

Education comes in many names, y'know. Don't be stopped by a label, of "animation school".
I usually do a lot of research if I'm having trouble drawing or just understanding something (like hands or muscles or weapons for example). Figure drawing is a great way to better understand the body and get an idea of movement and all around angles.
Depending on the style you want, researching a favorite artist's work can help. Seeing their sketches can give you an idea of how that artist moves their pencil around. There are books out there. For anime and manga, there are those infamous How To Draw Manga books. Figure drawing, angles, perspective, and a few other areas are also explained in books.
I'm sure Youtube has a few tutorials and if you search on google you can find websites with good explanations. Good luck! :D
or you could by 'how to draw' books haha
