How can I get unix-y line editor bindings in firefox 1.0?

March 14th, 2010 by rose
  • I want to be able to use the unix-shell ^E, ^A, ^F, ^B, etc line editing shortcuts when using firefox. I would like to have this functionality in windows, but I would be satisfied with an answer that described how I can get this behavior in the linux version. Annoyingly, this used to be the default... Mozilla's default behavior in linux enables the aforementioned emacs-y bindings, and older versions of firefox made it a configuration option. How can I make firefox 1.0 do what I want without hacking the source? Better yet, is there a solution that works in windows as well? Thanks so much!
