  • You cannot be a sole proprietor of a business in Malaysia if you are a foreigner, it has to be a joint venture with a local.


  • 1. You have to learn to read, write and speak Bahasa Malaysia. This is for application of forms, fill in forms, and interviews with the authorities. Also for daily use. Malaysians speak Malay, not Pakistanise ...

    2. You need to have Capital, that is money - lots of it, to start up. Purchase a shop, or rent one, for which deposit is 6 monhs to one yesr or more. There may be other payments too, payments to smooth the way ....

    3. Know how to smile, make fun of yourself, and learn to know that the customers are always right ...Also can appreciate different local cultural customs of the different races ....

    4. Foreigners cannot be "sole propriter" in Malaysia. You need a local partner or sponser ....

    5. If you can pay, people will be willing to supply you with goods to build up yur stocks. If you owe money and do not pay, people can make you pay....

    6. Get to know about the Malaysians business laws, by-laws, rules and regulations


    7. Think it over. Ponder on the pros and cons of doing business in Malaysia. Some make it. Some don't. ....


    Then, and only then, go to meet the Trade Commissioner at the Malaysian Embassy ....to arrange for a visa ...
