Dvd duration and current time
March 12th, 2010 by janefirst of all, big congrats to the media centre team for some excellent top notch work. i myself work on a non-profit online project, so i know how much dedication it takes. and i also know that people taking the time to let you know your work appreciated is always welcome ;)
...anyway - onto my query :) and apologies if this has been talked about before. (i did try and do a forum search before hand...)
i'm just wondering if it's been noticed that the current time and duration on dvd's played in xmc aren't right.
the total duration seems to be 1 hour less then it should be.
for the first hour of the film, the current time will be right, but once it hits an hour, it goes back to 0:00 and counts back up from the start, so 1h and 5 mins into the film, it says your only 5 mins into the film.
...now normally, this would be only a minor annoyance. the trouble is though, that this innacuracy in timing ends up messing up vobsub subtitle support. (something i'm trying to get working with ripped .vob files from dvd's).
...so my question is - just on the off chance, are there any known workarounds for this problem? or do most people not have this problem - and i've got something set wrong? or is it just a 'wait for the next version' deal?
...if it's the last, then i'm cool with that :) i'll just add myself to the list of ungrateful's who wish the devs no social life so they get the new dvd features done quickly ;)
